THE POWER OF ENGINEERING AND NEUROSCIENCE COMBINED

Dr. Austin Brockmeier, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware (https://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ajbrock/), and Dr. Julie M. Schneider combined powers to teach underrepresented middle school girls in New Castle, DE about their brains! His first-year graduate student built an EEG cap using 3D computer modeling (left image) and Austin and I explained to the girls what the brain waves on the screen represented (right image) as they each took a turn wearing the cap. We explained to the girls how important collaborating across fields is and that we need to work together to make progress in science!
