DR. JULIE M. SCHNEIDER
Director
Dr. Schneider is an Assistant Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department at LSU. Her PhD is in Psychological Sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas and she completed a Post-Doc under the supervision of Drs. Zhenghan Qi and Roberta Golinkoff at The University of Delaware. Her research has been funded by NIH, NSF, and the Society for Research in Child Development.

She believes that every child has their own path to learning language. Biological and environmental influences interact to impact this path to learning and using language. Her research focuses on investigating the interaction brain and environment have upon word learning throughout childhood. By identifying environmental and neurological factors that benefit a child’s ability to learn and grow, she believes that we can start to elicit positive change in the education system and in our communities.

To elicit positive change in the community, Dr. Schneider also dedicates her free time to volunteering with non-profit organizations, such as: Girls Inc., Girl Scouts of America, local food banks, Women's Protective Services, and more. She is also an avid traveler and active at her local Crossfit gym.
